Goethe-Zertifikat A1 (Start German 1) Exam Schedule

The official list below shows reserved time periods and not confirmed exams. Please confirm with your teacher whether or not the final exam for a course will be conducted during this time.

Locations

The Exam Schedule lists locations where DEP conducts operator certification exams. Please refer to the individual exam pages for additional information on exam content, exam rules and conditions, and additional guidelines. If you need special accommodations because of chronic disease, visual or hearing impairment or other limitations Contact the exam provider and provide the documents when you register.

The Faculty Dashboard in Workday offers the option of "View My Teaching Schedule", which allows faculty to find their exam schedules. Additionally, the Registrar's Office has a list of exam times for courses in which an exam is required by NYSED regulations. For evening classes, final exams are scheduled during the normal class time during the week of exams.

Registration

The exam schedule is accessible online, and students are advised to consult it. It is important to remember that the final schedule of exams can change at any moment. This is why students should consult with their instructors to ensure that they have the correct date and time for their exam. Students should also be certain to print the official list and bring it with them to their exam.

Students should also familiarize themselves with the guidelines and terms of the exam, in addition to the exam schedule. They are available on the individual exam pages. Upon registration, students acknowledge that they accept these conditions and terms.

If students are scheduled to take three tests on the same day, they should contact their instructor or department to arrange for a make-up test. While it is possible to take three tests in a single day, this can result in a high stress level and could impact the quality of the test. The professor may not be able give a makeup test on another day.

Students must review their course material before taking the exam and practice their German skills. The test is a paper-based test which measures the ability to read, speak and write in German. The results of the examination are given using a scale of A1 to C2. Students who succeed in passing the test are awarded the Goethe-Zertifikat. The certificate certifies the attainment of the language level A1. This level is the first level of the six-level scale of competence that is set out in the Common European Framework of Reference for Foreign Languages. The exam is free. Students must bring a valid government issued ID to the test. Those who do not have an ID with a valid photo are disqualified from the exam.

Fees

If you have completed your studies at Elan Academy and wish to be awarded the Goethe-Zertifikat A1 (start German 1), you'll need to pay the exam fee. This is in addition to the cost of the course.

Practice assessments provide you with an overview of the style and wording, as well as the level of questions on the exam. They help you evaluate your knowledge level, find areas of knowledge that aren't covered and increase your chances of passing the exam.

Please take note that the exam fee is not refundable. Examination results can only be accessed via email and not by phone.
